Overview
Deosai is a vast high plateau between Astore and Skardu, carpeted with flowers in midsummer. The Burji La is a pass on its northern rim, and from its crest the view extends across the Indus valley to the main Karakoram, including K2 on clear days.
This sample begins with a jeep ride from Skardu past Satpara onto Deosai, then walks to a camp below the pass, crosses the Burji La and descends steeply towards Skardu. It is short but strenuous, with a big height gain and loss on the crossing day.

Itinerary
Day 1
Skardu to Deosai by jeep
Drive past Satpara Lake and up onto the plateau. Timing varies with road and weather conditions.
Overnight: Camp on Deosai
Day 2
Deosai to Burji La base camp
Walk across the northern edge of the plateau to camp below the pass.
Overnight: Camp below the Burji La
Day 3
Cross the Burji La
A steep ascent to the pass for the view, then a long, steep descent on the Skardu side.
Overnight: Camp on the Skardu side Highest point: 4,800 m
Day 4
Descent to Skardu
Complete the descent towards Satpara and transfer to Skardu.
Overnight: Hotel in Skardu
