Minglik Sar (also spelled Mingli Sar or Manglik Sar) rises above the high pastures around the Shimshal Pass, on the watershed region where the Karakoram meets the Pamir. Operators describe it as one of the more approachable summits around 6,000 m in Pakistan.
The approach usually begins in Shimshal village. From there the route climbs over several days to the summer grazing grounds used by Shimshali herders around the pass, before the climb itself. Several sources credit the first ascent to the Pakistani climber Nazir Sabir in 1988.
The journey suits experienced trekkers who want a first summit near 6,000 m, and it includes time in one of Gojal's most distinctive mountain communities.
