Autumn colours of Hunza

In autumn, the poplars, apricots and fruit trees of Hunza turn yellow, orange and red against the grey and white of the surrounding mountains. The terraces around Karimabad and the villages of Upper Hunza become a patchwork of colour.

The day combines viewpoints above Karimabad with orchard walks and a drive into Gojal, timed for the best light. Because deep valleys fall into shadow early, timing matters, and the route is planned around where the sun reaches.
