A short but rough ride from Gilgit into the forested Naltar valley, where the tarmac ends at Nomal and a stony track follows the river towards the lakes.

Overview
Naltar lies about 34–40 km from Gilgit, reached through Nomal. Accounts describe the first part as metalled but damaged, and the onward section along the Naltar river as a stony track that travellers usually tackle by hired four-wheel-drive jeep. Beyond Naltar village, tracks continue to Satrangi and the other Naltar lakes, with stream crossings along the way.
This is an off-road concept for experienced riders only, and it needs a fallback: if the track is unsuitable or local rules do not allow motorcycles, the group would continue from Nomal by local jeep. A road upgrade has been reported in the past; its current state needs checking. Timing varies with road and weather conditions.

Itinerary
Day 1
Gilgit to Naltar
Out of Gilgit via Nomal, then up the river track to Naltar. Switch to local jeeps at Nomal if the track is unsuitable. Timing varies with road and weather conditions.
Overnight: Naltar
Day 2
Naltar lakes
Ride or jeep to Satrangi Lake and, conditions permitting, further lakes; return to Naltar.

Day 3
Naltar to Gilgit
Back down the track and into Gilgit.

- Sources describe the Nomal–Naltar section as fit only for four-wheel-drive jeeps, with washouts from glacial outbursts recorded; motorcycle suitability must be confirmed with local operators.
- Snow makes the lake road effectively impassable in winter.
