Batura Glacier to Yashpirt and Guchesham
A moderate glacier-side trek from Passu along one of the longest glaciers outside the polar regions, visiting the herders' pastures of Yashpirt and Guchesham.

Overview
The Batura Glacier flows east for some 57 km from the Batura peaks almost to the Karakoram Highway at Passu. This trek follows its southern lateral moraine, crosses the ice to the north side, and visits the summer settlements of Wakhi herders from Passu.
Altitude gain is modest compared with other Karakoram treks, making this a good first multi-day walk in the range. The views up-glacier to the 7,000 m Batura group grow with every stage.

Itinerary
Day 1
Passu to Yunz valley
Leave Passu and follow the lateral moraine of the Batura Glacier to camp.
Overnight: Camp in the Yunz area
Day 2
Cross the Batura Glacier to Yashpirt
Cross the glacier diagonally with the guide to the pasture and huts at Yashpirt.
Overnight: Camp at Yashpirt
Day 3
Yashpirt to Guchesham via Kukhil
Continue up the ablation valley past Kukhil to Guchesham, with widening views of the Batura group.
Overnight: Camp at Guchesham
Day 4
Return to Yashpirt
Walk back down the ablation valley to Yashpirt.
Overnight: Camp at Yashpirt
Day 5
Yashpirt to Passu
Recross the glacier and follow the moraine back to Passu.
Overnight: Hotel or guesthouse in Passu
